Quantora Institutional IFVG — Indicator Setup Guide, Settings & Backtesting

How the Quantora Institutional IFVG indicator finds and filters Inverse Fair Value Gap setups, what its filtering modes and risk-to-reward settings do, which timeframes it is built for, and the Strategy Tester settings that backtest it fastest.

By Hardik K Chapla — builder of the Quantora Robots MetaTrader Expert Advisors and indicator.

Quantora Institutional IFVG is a MetaTrader 5 indicator — not an EA — that detects Fair Value Gaps, tracks their inversion into Inverse Fair Value Gaps, filters out weak setups, and then draws a complete trade plan: entry, stop loss and take profit. It is built for Smart Money Concept, ICT and price-action traders who want fewer, higher-quality reversal signals rather than an alert on every gap. It is sold on the MQL5 Market.

What it puts on the chart

When a valid IFVG is confirmed, the indicator marks the setup, shows the entry level, an ATR-based stop loss, and a take profit at the risk-to-reward multiple you've chosen (1R to 6R). A built-in dashboard summarises the current state, and buy/sell alerts fire as popup, push notification and email. Signals are generated only after a candle closes, which keeps them stable and makes backtesting fast.

Settings you control

  • Filtering mode — Off, Loose, Balanced, Strict, or Custom. Stricter modes reject more marginal gaps on gap quality, candle strength and ATR measurements, trading signal count for signal quality
  • Risk-to-reward target — the take-profit multiple, from 1R to 6R
  • Stop loss and take profit — ATR-based, so they scale with the instrument's current volatility
  • Alerts — popup, push and email, independently switchable
  • Visuals — the chart drawing is kept clean and lightweight, and every element is customisable

Recommended usage

  • Instruments: all forex pairs, Gold, indices and crypto; optimised for 2-digit pairs and performs well across the rest
  • Timeframes: best on H1, H4 and Daily — higher timeframes produce the highest-quality IFVGs
  • Suits discretionary trading (use the drawn levels as a plan) and systematic trading (take every signal in a chosen mode) equally well

Backtesting it quickly

Because signals only form on candle close, the Strategy Tester's 1 Minute OHLC modelling is both much faster and fully reliable for this indicator. Every Tick or Real Ticks modelling adds a lot of test time with no benefit unless you specifically need tick-level analysis. Recommended tester setup: any supported forex pair, H1 / H4 / Daily, 1 Minute OHLC, visual mode optional.

What it is not

It is a technical-analysis and trade-planning tool, not an automated system and not a guarantee of profitable trades. It has no trading account of its own, so the product page shows screenshots of real setups rather than Myfxbook figures. Apply your own risk management and test any approach on demo before trading real funds.
